Cracker Barrel just changed its logo and

somehow it turned into a fullblown

culture war. How did a simple design

tweak become the latest political

outrage? And is this a fight that

followers of Jesus should even get

involved in? Welcome to Provoke and

Inspire, where I look at culture and

current events by asking what would

Jesus think and what would Jesus do.

Look, here's the reality. We live in a

world so polarized and tribal that we

are constantly looking for things to

confirm our biases and frustrations. The

fact is Cracker Barrel is losing

relevance. Its audience is aging and

it's trying to reinvent itself to reach

a new generation. That's it. Nothing

more. But instead of recognizing this,

people rush to turn this into a

political talking point. The right is

accusing Cracker Barrow of bowing to

woke culture when in reality it's just a

restaurant chain trying not to die. But

this is the foolishness of our age. Real

injustice, poverty, and suffering are

all around us. Yet, we waste our energy

fighting these fake battles over logos.

It's outrage confirmation bias disguised

as moral courage. As followers of Jesus,

we cannot get sucked into this. We need

the wisdom to focus on what really

matters and resist losing credibility in

pointless debates. The Bible says it

best. When words are many, sin is not

absent. But he who holds his tongue is

wise. Proverbs 10:19. Our voice is

crucial in these turbulent times. But if

we waste it on things that don't matter,

we will lose credibility to speak when

it does. The problem is that patience,

wisdom, and nuance are not rewarded in

our culture. Yet, these are the very

things the world desperately needs. And

who better to lead the way than us? Not

only do we have access to the truth, but

we are told that truth without love,

patience, and kindness only adds to the

senseless noise. At the end of the day,

Cracker Barrel didn't go woke. It simply

doesn't want to go out of business. So,

fellow followers of Jesus, let's do

better. Let's follow the advice of

James. Everyone should be quick to

listen, slow to speak, and slow to

become angry. Living this way will set

us apart from the sea of fools around us

and give authority to our voice, which

is more needed now than ever. Thanks for
